Making Your Dots Line Up

Have you ever tried to create a table of contents when using Microsoft Word and realized that you just couldn't make those dots line up straight? This can be so frustrating! There is a way to do it, but it's not something that's easy to figure out on your own. Especially when you're working at the last minute.

There are really two ways to create a uniform table of contents. One type is auto-generated, which means you go through a series of steps to divide and name your chapters, then command your Word program to generate a table of contents (TOC). The program pulls information from your paper and generates the TOC.

The second method may be a little easier to understand. It's best for beginners. Just type your paper and make sure your final draft has all the right page numbers on the pages. Then type your table of contents and insert uniform dots.
